Things to do

A comprehensive selection of information booklets are stored in the cottage to help you to decide how to spend your days whilst on your holiday but below are a few ideas.

Cycling

The Tarka trail enables you to cycle to the coast at your leisure along the banks of the river Torridge where a glimpse of an otter or a kingfisher is always possible.  The trail is over 180 miles long in total taking routes through North and Mid Devon from coast to moors.

Fishing

Staffordmoor just a five minutes drive from Riddlecombe, is set in sixty three acres with five lakes offering many varieties of course fishing.

The Moors

The Dartmoor National Park just 30 minuets drive offering breathtaking walks over heather covered moorland and deep wooded gorges, with lake like reservoirs, tumbling rocky rivers and craggy granite tors. Exmoor National Park offers stunning landscape wilderness and tranquility with red deer and its native Exmoor ponies ideal for ramblers, amblers, or horse riders.

Libatton Golf Course is only 10 minutes drive
Chulmleigh Golf Course is only 15 minutes drive

Rosemoor

Rosemoor is an RHS garden and is able to inspire a wide range of visitors from the novice to the professional and fascinating explorer trails for the children.

Dartington Glass

Visitors can see all stages of the glass making process, than view and buy the finished glassware. The glass centre includes a video theatre, a re-creation of an 18th century glass making workshop and displays on the history of glass. There is also a restaurant on site.

The Big Sheep

Dog trials, Battlefield live (paintball), rides, garden centre, horse whispering, mountain boarding, duck trails, pony rides and their world famous sheep racing!  The Big Sheep is at Abbotsham, Bideford.

The Milky Way Adventure Park

This is an all weather theme park and a great family day out located at Clovelly.  Ride the Cosmic Typhoon North Devon’s tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster or explore a huge indoor adventure play area with assault courses and slides.

Crealy Adventure Theme Park

Award winning family attraction minutes from J30 of the M5 near Exeter.  The park has over 60 rides and attractions including heart stopping rides, water splash ride, soft play and over 100 animals all set in a 100 acres of Devon countryside.

Quince Honey Farm

Starting out with 2 bee hives it is now the biggest honey farm in Britain and has grown into a tourist attraction with a shop, café, honey bee exhibition and soft play area.  The Honey Farm is at South Molton.

Beaches

Westward Ho is ideal for Swimming and surfing just 30 Minutes drive away. Woolacombe’s beautiful coastline is ideal for walking with three miles of golden sand, and along with Croyde and Putsborough form the Gold Coast – ideal for a spot of surfing…
